As a short fella with only a 30" inside leg, what size frame would be recommended for a Mountain Bike ?

Update:

If anyone could give me some advice on value for money options in terms of brand/manufacturer it would be most appreciated. I am looking at spending around £600-£700.

Update 2:

Hmm, this is one of the reasons I asked the question if honest Insomnia. I used to race Mountain bikes (in the "Sport" catagory as was) on a Marin - Pinemountain I think it was. The bike was stolen and I couldnt remember the sizing ... bikes as now seem to vary dramatically in shape.

I have a 30" inseam and ride a standard Giant ATX hardtail 16.5" frame. I'm sure you'll be very close.

This is a can of worms, as now makers produce such varied frame-styles, the old days of saying a 21" will fit you just right, are long gone. If you are looking to spend that much, you should definately at least sit upon the bike you fancy, at your local dealer. Then buy it on eBay in the right size, and undercut him by over 200 pounds, like I'm gonna with my new racer in the Spring.

You should be looking at S or 16 to 17 inch frames for mtn bikes with 26" wheels.

A 17-19in frame size will fit you.
