Supermarket packaging .... ?
If we were to take off packaging and leave it at the store we bought it from, do they have every right to force us to take it with us considering at that point it is our property ?
I ask as obviously we do not all have farmer's markets close to us (which I agree are much better for many things) but are faced with the possibilty of paying for rubbish we are forced (due to bar-coding etc.) to buy. If I could, I'd remove the packaging before I bought ... but then (as I do not own the goods at that time) I may be harshly reprimanded for vandalism ... Heard many say, "well just leave the packaging at the store" ... But can I ?

No, I leave the rubbish in the shop if appropriate, although I tend to steer clear of the excess packaging anyway. If they ban you from the shop then you take your custom elsewhere. you hold the power in this situation.
Make sure you pass the idea on. this could really be a good way of forcing a reduction in packaging.
Star the question if you agree.

Whilst I try to use local shops and markets it is sometimes difficult avoiding the supermarket entirely. When I am there, I chose more local foods because they have less packaging; they don't need to travel so far so don't need as much protection against knocks and bumps on long journeys. I also buy products with the least packaging.
In the UK this issue is going to get very heated as people may be charged additional amounts to their Council Tax for rubbish disposal. When you recycle there is very little in your bin that is destined for landfill. BUT, I will definitely be leaving my packaging at the supermarkets from now on. I will unwrap as I pack them and leave the rubbish there. Let the supermarket pay the additional charges, I am not prepared to when I am given little choice. I am aiming for no rubbish going in my bin that ends up in landfill.

Like everything, there are the right way and the wrong way of doing things.
I take off the packaging for cucumbers for example but not other things that have the bar code on it as I don't want to make things difficult at the till.

No, i do no longer think of that's a needed evil. i think of that's a nicely-liked evil, yet no longer a needed one. as much as i admire the slaughterhouse quote, i do no longer think of that's precise. There could be extra vegetarians, that's for particular. yet there are already people who paintings at slaughterhouses, the generating facility farmers, the those that are thoroughly ok with the approach, to no longer point out the extensive group of human beings who say "they're only animals, they have not any emotions. The noises they make are involuntary reactions, no longer because of the fact they experience soreness." or people who dedicate and help animal cruelty.

i don't know but i've stopped shopping at supermarkets and take my own basket and bags to the farmers markets. cheaper, better quality food and without the packaging issue.
wish i'd changed earlier

...I´m not sure, if that´s any help to you, but here in Germany I have the right to leave the packaging at the store and they are obliged to take it and take care of it...

I believe they have a right to ban you from using their premises, it's called "Reserved right of admission" and most trading places have it in place, particularly to fend off shoplifters.

Why do you use the store at all? Vote with your feet if you don't approve their way of dealing.

I HAD to read your question twice, and I think I agree with you.
it is their packaging so let them keep it.
