What technology can be used to reduce the need for travel for corporate meetings etc. ?

When dealing with people in this country, net meetings, video conferencing, PC anywhere (Good for demos) and the like work quite well. Be aware that net and video conferences are much more difficult to chair than face-to-face meetings.

With international collaboration, there are two issues to consider.

One is language. People for whom English is not their first languages may find it difficult to participate in the rapid interchanges typical of net-meetings and video conferencing. Voice mail is also tricky. E-mails and message boards are better because they allow people time to consider and digest the question and compose a reply. This is not so much a problem 1 to 1.

The second is time zones. I have worked with people in Japan and Australia and scheduling net or video conferencing with them is obviously very difficult. E-mail and MBs are the only realistic solution. Without E-mail, some of the collaborative projects I have been involved with would have been impossible,.

i miss traveling. google maps and google earth are the culprits. my clients dont send me to the places/counties anymore. i just check their orientations on google earth.
