could this be labour??

Hi all, im just over 39 weeks pregnant and was woken up at 5 this morning with period like cramps in my lower back. I had sharp shooting pains this morning with lasted a few seconds, but the back ache has not gone nor has it got worse. Around 3 this afternoon i had a show and pains have still stayed the same in my lower back. Ive been to the toilet for a number 2 a few times today, was just wondering if this sounds like the beginning of labour.

Sounds like it, from what I have heard from friends it could still be a little while though!

I think it sounds like you are in labour. I lot of people starts of with back pain (myself included). Your body tends to flush itself out as well in preparation for the birth that's why you have been to the toilet a few times. I think it wont be long until the contractions starts getting regular. Good Luck.

Sure does! I think you should give the doctor a call and stay in touch. When contractions are about 5-6 mins apart, or water breaks - time to go! Best Wishes!!!

Many people have back labor first. If it's something you can time, and it has a regular pattern, it is labor. If it comes and goes, it probably isn't. Although you're pretty far along, you're a walking time bomb right now, so anything goes!

Call your doctor. It sounds like back labor to me. If you havent had any steady contractions it might be a while though. I would just call my doctor to be sure.

Sounds like it to me. When I had my first baby, I had back pain and that was it until my water broke.

Yes! Call your doctor and explain the the symtoms to the nurse. She will tell you when it is time to come to the hospital.

Yes! It sounds like labor to me. Have you lost your mucus plug yet? After that things will go very quickly.
