First time flyer need information?

I have never flown before in a commercial airliner. I have a transfer 1/2 way. How do I or they handle my checked luggage? Do I have to claim it and recheck it or do they just transfer it? Any other tips would be great too! Do I have to go through security again between flights?

I assume you are flying domestically.... Typically you don't have to go through security again if you are travel on one airline. In hub city, you may need to change terminal by taking a train or bus, but it is normally behind the security line. You don't have to recheck the luggage, airlines normally check your bags directly to your destination. However, if you are flying Southwest, and have to change airline, you need to confirm with them whether you need to take the bag out. Anyway, if you are doing international travel, more than likely you will have to go through security when you change flight in gateway city or in a foreign airport. The bag however, normally you don't see them until you arrive. Good luck, and don't worry, flying is not as good as before, it is still the quickest transportation. Good luck.

As long as you ticket all the way through you do not have to check your bags again and unless you are a smoker you will not have to go through security again.
