Here's an answer i gave some one else about fund raising ... hope it helps!
I've done all kinds of fund raisers ... from selling cookies for cheerleading to hosting a video game tournament for Skills USA...one fundraiser we did since we live in the south is sell beef jerky ... another we've sold candy ... that one went well too .... go here and you will find tons of ideas ...
http://www.fundraising.com/Default.aspx
another thing you can do is find a sponsor ... a local business that will match what ever funds y'all raise ..... think outside of the box .. my college just hosted a rock-a-thon in rocking chairs to get our swimming pool back people would buy a chair and have some one rock in it and try to beat the world record (we did by the way .. still waiting on the official results)
think about what you could do around school ... do kids like movies? would they like to have an all night movie fest (like a horror movie fest with all the old black and white movies just as an idea) hosted in the gym and they could pay say $3 to get in and stay the night ...
or team up with a movie theater and see if they can donate like $2 from every ticket sold to a certain movie on a certain night (local restaurants do that around here too!)
The most success I've had with fund raisers is when we do something new that people want to try ... but poll people before hand to make sure they will come!
