That happened to me. My very first love had to go and fall in love and get married! I was actually happy for him, but it would have been too hard to go to the wedding. I declined. I should have sent a gift though. Oh, well. that was a LONG time ago. You will find someone else, hon!

Best to stay away. Send a nice gift and RSVP with an apology. Then treat yourself to a weekend with friends so you don't dwell on the wedding. It's better for everyone.

Go. Accept it philosopically, and be glad if he was going to choose someone else, that it happened before WE were married, than after. Maybe, he will do it to "her" down the road. If I could find some really good looking guy to be my date for the reception, even better.

If I was still in love+our thing was recent I wouldn't go, I couln't bare to see him getting married to someone else...If I had moved on but cared for him as someone who was part of my life once, I would go and I'd be happy for him...

there's no such thing as the love of your life...if they're the love of your life they'd be getting married to you...

I go and see from distance and bless her and come back..

off course the memory remind for the rest of the life...

But should try to forget with making yourself busy with works and some other things...

Because of the strange situation of my life, I expect this to happen at some point :) and because her happiness is so important to me, I will be happy for her and support her and hide my own feelings for her sake.

you go to that wedding with a pistol in your hand, kill that someone else and marry the love of your life.

and you live happily ever after so that generations that follow would have a good bedtime story to tell their kids.

Have a good cry. Then make a decision to move on with your life. Send them a card of congratulations.

I would say thank you for the invite & then I wouldn't go. No need to put yourself through that.
