Why aren't female cockroaches called 'hen-roaches'?

Like peacock and peahen, a cockroach's spouse should be a henroach.

    Because unlike the peacock, it's too difficult to tell a cockroach's sex from a quick look, so thats why all the bugs are lumped into the male-specific gender name.
