Have you ever listened to silence?

I hear peace.

I find it sad that people must always have tv, music or cell phones on - are they so unhappy with themselves that they cannot be comfortable alone and quiet for even a few moments?

Where I live I can hear no silence, there is always some creek, some pipe groaning, some bird calling.

It wouldn't be a hard stretch to imagine that I have never actually heard silence.

As for falling trees, leave Quantum mechanics to the people that understand it.

Oh I love that and miss it in these modern days.

Now I can hear a fan whirring. Or a faraway machine; maybe the lawn mower somewhere.

I like silence when we are out in the open somewhere in the countryside.

When u ca listen to the trees moving and the birds calling.

Silence Like Glass

A quiet that pierces the soul

And weakens the spirit

A nothingness

Razor sharp in its infinity

A reflection of your fractured sanity

This is silence like glass

Wow I was a very dark and morbid teenager--But I actually enjoy listening to silence now I find it calming.

How can silence be understood to have a meaning ? Let me try to figure something poetically....

He's out into the night all by himself...thinking to himself.

Yes, he's alone in the night....neon lights, people in the night,

Then back to silent......

The silence in the silent.

The implication is there....firgure that situation and maybe you can get some idea about silence.

I don't think I have ever experienced complete silence. I don't think anyone has. Even alone in a sound proof room, you would still hear the hum of your heart beating, and the cadence of your breathing would sound like many drums.

I love listening to silence simply

because silence is a good listener

Unfortunately, there is no silence anymore. The closest we come is when the power goes out. There are no longer any places where the rhythm of modern life does not make itself known. Mores the pity.

Yes I meditate and enjoy stilling my mind

It can be very noisy when you take the time to listen : )

Especially in the bush you can hear an orchestra if you take the time to listen

I take the time to listen to my inner thoughts and it clears my mind and straightens up all the confusion
