I've never been to Turkey but I've been to the Canaries and to Crete a few times and they're similar. I think there is a range of people that go on hols every year, the majority of which are there to have a relaxed time and see somewhere new, experience new cultures.
However it's the few that do get caught up in brawls and get drunk that give the rest a bad name :o(

I am British and first started going to Turkey (marmaris) when I was 18 years old - yes to get drunk and have fun but not to get into fights, in fact me and my brother used to go out to bars and discos with Turkish people.
To be honest most groups of British young people tend to go to Greece or Spain - (a lot British people have preconceptions of what Turkey is like and don't want to go there for holidays) - but again most of them just want sun, sand, alcohol and a little holiday romance. Young British tourists are no different than any other young people on holiday.

i'm a guy and have been there on holiday solo for style of five weeks. No, Turks are very Honorable human beings and show a great deal of hospitality. There are sleazy human beings international and Turkey has some too. yet maximum persons there have been very high-quality to me and the different travellers and vacationers. i think this is their custom be high-quality to travellers. generally, i become invited to have some tea and chat. The coastal area is extremely touristy and extra western in nature. As you progression inland, issues become extra conservative. in certainty, i presumed the dissimilar vacationers have been generally variety of impolite to their hosts. undergo in concepts which you're a customer of their usa and can attempt to act accurately. Turkey is extra conservative than quite a number of Europe. women persons do not all thoroughly conceal up, yet they are not getting bare on the sea coast, or decide for a run donning short shorts and a tank good. Many Muslims do not drink. So a drunken soccer fan from another usa appeared out of place. of direction they do love their soccer. pass to Turkey and luxuriate in an engaging and friendly usa.

As a native English speaker who often ended up in the same Istanbul pubs as British tourists, I have to say I have not witnessed any bad behavior first hand. During a few England-Turkey football matches there was some rowdiness on Istiklal Caddesi (back in 2005? 2006?), but hooliganism will happen whether fans are at home or abroad.

drink and fight, alcohol is cheap in Turkey for British as far as drinking Lager is concerned. Than you know how an English men looks like when they drunk, than they fight. Well Turks like to fight that's another fact, it's in their blood and they fight very well, than English and Turk fight starts on the street, usually in front of the bar, and fight always ends up with a solution, either a broken head or leg or arm. The problem is next morning British doesn't remember anything because of alcohol but Turk remembers everything than they fight again. :::))) Just kidding. No not that much, they exaggerate, I have seen several incidents but not that much and serious. They come to vacation to Turkey and they drunk, that's very normal. What would you do on your vacation? not drink and feast? Of course you will enjoy your time, drink.

I agree with Blunt. I saw many things in all the countries i visited and in Turkey. But we can not generalize people.
Holiday is to have fun, relax, drink without disturbing others but sometimes it happens.

Have never witnessed it. Even if I did, I wouldn't generalize.
The same can be said of all tourists. And locals, too. Why single out Brits?

of course i did... i can forget the 13 years old boy always roaming drunk and yelling around allday....
in turkey British ppl find 2 things.. cheap drink and good sex...
(was talking to a girl in her 17-19 and she said to me that, its not easy to find a good sex partner in Britannia and prefers Turkey to come in holidays... (meanwhile her mother in her 40's was hand to hand with a young turkish boy)..
