What are the components of original sin...meaning what plagues mankind now because Adam/Eve ate the fruit?

Childbirth

Mental illness

Allergies

Can you name a few?

Or is the idea of "original sin" a cover up for either (A) God's screw ups or (B) to attempt to discredit science?

I still don't get that nobody thought having a discussion with a lizard was cause for questioning the entire thing. The lunch date in the garden was a precursor to the construction of the superstructure Mall of Babel. The idea that we humans can (and therefore should) act as though we are omnipotent (self perpetuating and self-fulfilling) and subsequently beyond reproach is the taproot of the addictive consumerism in the industrialized West. We are destroying our own environment on the basis of Biblical axioms. Look at the ecological crisis before us now. You can still hear adam and eve munching on the apple...

Adam nor Eve actually ate any fruit. They both decided to think and act like flesh and blood man, instead of like the spiritual image they were created in. Adam fell into a deep spiritual sleep and man has been born into this spiritual coma ever since. Sin means nothing more than living ones life without God. There is no degree of sin. Added note: no where in the Bible is the word apple to be found.

The question is probably not "would they have gotten to heaven" but rather would heaven and earth have remained united with humanity and God in an ongoing relationship. The ultimate end of humanity is described in Revelation 20 and is pictured more as heaven coming down to earth than everybody flying up there. If you're looking for an interesting treatment of this question, CS Lewis's book "Perelandra" is old-school science fiction aimed at exploring the question of what things might be like if humanity never fell/disobeyed. It's a little deep, but probably no worse than about a 10th grade reading level.

the original sin is a cover up, but just to blame our sins on someone else. What Adam and Eve did they had to do or none of us would be here. We are not cursed from Adam and Eve, but are blessed in that we can be here and have a life. And besides Christ himself, there where most likely the most righteous people on this earth.

i guess that if you look a tit from a spiritual manner then every christian is born with original sin.. its original because we as babies had nothing to do wit it.

also that would mean that through baptism we get rid of it and that is why we have that sacrament..

i dunt think that original sin is a cover up it just exists and that is what is believed.

they also say that sickenesses come from God which is why u should be careful.. but also the good always have to suffer for the bad right? look at mother teresa and the pope as an example!

Adam was the one that created sin for the rest of us. Sure Eve was the one that gave him the apple but in the Bible God said that because of Adam all generations from him will be burden with sin. Our selfishness, sex out of marriage, swearing, anger, and different tempations...is the result of Adam. God never screwed up anything. In the beginning he made everything perfect but he gave human the ability of choices and tempations. It was Adam and Eve who made the wrong descion and b/c of them we live in the world that we live in now. we could never go back the a perfect world no matter how much we might try.

Nothing, the only thing we got from the mistake of our forefather is the lesson of repentance. Original sin is created by roman pagans (nowaday's chrsitians) almost 200 years after Christ.

    human and animal death

    pain and suffering, sickness

    a fallen nature of man

the earth will be cursed so that man's work in farming it will be with toil

enmity between the children of the serpent and the children of Eve until the snakes head is crushed

The snake will continue to tell the lies he told "has God really said..." and "..you shall be as godz..." until Jesus comes and some will fall for the snake talking points and some will believe the gospel

    to name a few

Adam and Eve's eating of the apple cast sin into the world. With this their came pain, torture, death, and disease. If they wouldn't have of eaten of the apple, it is said that we would all be living happily and purely in the Garden of Eden.

First, I don't believe in that story. I believe that Satan seduced both Adam and Eve, not Eve seducing Adam to eat it.
