Which is better: Masters with Thesis or Masters without Thesisin ECE?

I'm wondering what could be the difference between a Masters degree with Thesis and a Masters degree without thesis in ECE...And why? What exactly will I be doing in both of them?

Update:

There is a small situation that confuses me:

1. I was issued an I20 (Document of Duration of Stay) for my Masters degree for 9 months. Most of my seniors told me that I cannot complete it in 9 months and that I should be extending it further. I need to have 12 credits to complete my Masters. So taking 3 credits a quarter (my university has a quarter system), it would take 3*4 quarters to complete all the 12 credits requirement. So logically speaking I will be completing my course in 12 months but as this includes a summer, I should be doing an internship, so it'll take 15 months to complete my course. All is well. Is that right or did I miscalculate it somewhere?

2. I saw two options: Masters with thesis and Masters without thesis. I know "Which one is better?" is a silly question but I'd really like to know the difference between them and how it would affect my future...

Update 2:

3. If suppose, I take up Masters with thesis, would I still be completing my course in 15 months or will it be extended further down the lane? And I heard from a friend that I should be "sponsored" by my professor to complete my thesis. Is that right?

Hope someone clarifies...

    It is up to you.

There is no difference once you have a degree, as far as the value of the degree.

At my "u" it was 30 credit hours after B.S. with thesis, but without thesis it was 33 credit hours. 'U' was on semester system, with two summer session 7 wks and 6 wks.

I think your calculations are wrong or you have miss understood your system, on quarter system, MS takes 48 or 36 credit hours. That would be 12 x4=48.

Thesis takes usually more time, our department allowed only 6 hours for thesis and it took a lots of time to complete the thesis.

You will need a renewable visa and it will be for 1 year at a time. You should request multiple entry visa also.

If you take thesis I do not think you will finish in one year.

Without thesis if you do not require preequists then you will finish, in one year, if you require only 36 credit hours you can do it in 3 quarters or 9 months, still you will need at east a year visa.To allow travel time and packing up and getting suitable flights in and out.

At my "U" very good students have finished MS in 2 semester, that is 9 months and no thesis, 33 semester credite hours total but very few have done this. They had planed this from freshman year and did not have to take any extra credit for prerequists.

Listed courses may not be available that perticular semester or even that year, in that case you may need to take a substitute or wait for it.
