why does a full moon affect peoples attitudes and emotions?

There's no real evidence indicating that it does, but to those who feel there is a correlation, most agree that it has to do with the moon's gravitational pull. When you consider the effect that the moon has upon the tides, and that the human body is 70% water, it's easy to see a possible relationship between the two.

From personal experience, I tend to feel that there may be something to this. I suffer excrutiating headaches during the full moon, all of my children were born on the full moon, and I become moody and irritable with each change of the moon's phase. I experience the same anxiety when there is a drop in barometric pressure.

It's noted that asylums employ extra security during the full moon, and police departments have extra officers on shift. The local State Police barracks won't allow civilians to work the desk during the full moon, and I know this as I once dated one of the troopers.

There seems to be a correlation with emotional disturbance and the full moon. I know that police notice a rise in violent crimes during a full moon.

It doesn't as far as I know.....
