It really depends on how much you weigh. ie: it is easier to lose 20 pounds if you have 250 pounds, whereas it's slightly harder to lose 20 pounds if you only weigh 120.
It depends really on what you want to do...if you want a complete lifestyle overhaul, then you need to commit to regular exercise and a proper diet.
However, if you're trying to lose weight for a wedding or grad (something temporary) then weighloss pills are perfect for that. I know they're bad for you...consult a doctor, it's unhealthy, blah blah. I don't know if you have herbal magic here, but they supply pills that make you pee and poo out all your food...this is a really bad way to lose weight, and it's all temporary. But if you're looking to lose some weight quickly and easily try them.
Or you could do the old crash diets of cabbage soup or grapefruit...but it's temporary...don't expect to permanently shed that much weight unless you do a total lifestyle makeover.

It is incredibly unhealthy and possibly dangerous to be losing 5lbs a week (20lbs a month). 1-2 is more realistic.
However I know you're not after a lecture and just want information so..
The only diet I know of that may help you get close enough to losing 20lbs (and again, I must point out that it is definitely not safe to try attempt to lose so much weight so quickly!!) is the Stillman Diet/The Doctor's Quick Weight Loss Diet.
It's a protein-only diet and recommended *only* for the short term and you *must* drink plenty of water. It is proven to lose up to 5% of your weight per week (eg. If you are 130lbs, then mathematically you would lose up to 6lbs a week however I imagine that is for extremely overweight people).
I bought his book but this site http://www.lowcarb.org/stillman.html lists all the acceptable foods in the diet. Do some research abotu it though to make an informed choice. Even seeing your doctor is a good idea for some information and advice.
Again I must stress it is only safe for the short-term because high-protein places enormous stress on the body... Losing weight really should be done the healthy, lifestyle-change way..
The only reason I am providing you with this information is so that you don't do something silly like not eating (which would be a disaster and would *not* get you the results you want..)
Good luck. I know what it's like to want to lose weight quickly...

If you were to lose 20 pounds in one month, you would have to eat neither drink anything, and that is not possible because the human body cannot live longer than 1 week without water, and no longer than one month without food. It is not possible. If you don't believe me, try going a whole couple of days without water. You'll see for yourself that your body just won't let that happen. Instead of focusing on an unrealistic goal like that, try to start making small changes that will gradually lead to a big goal, like losing 20 pounds. For example, try counting down on carbohydrates, drinking at least 64 fluid ounces of water everyday and eating plenty of fruit. If you focus on making this type of eating lifestyle part of your daily regimen, you'll lose weight in no time. Hope this helps!

Yes. But. It will take alot of discipline. Your diet should be low fat, high protien. Avoid processed sugars booze and junk food. Graze thruout the day 5 small meals and avoid eating 3 hours before sleep. Drink lots of water to flush your system of toxins. Exercise in the morning before you eat breakfast (stretch first!) to rev up your metabolisim. Also, as an aside, use lots of lotion to keep you skin in good condition. Such a rapid weight loss can cause stretch marks. (Especially if you gain it all back, which is a real possibility). I have heard fish oil keeps your skin and hair looking good, losing fat in your diet can cause lackluster hair and skin. But... ew fish oil?

Its possible, dont know how safe it is. Most experts say you should only lose around 2lbs a week. That is 8lbs a month, so you should shot for 2 months to lose 20lbs.

The new drug, Alli (orlistat) actually can aid in rapid weight loss BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SEVERELY MODIFY YOUR DIET AND COMMIT TO EXERCISING!!! The side effects of this drug (which runs you about 60 a month and can be bought at drugstores like CVS) are NOT very fun at all.

Yes, it is possible to lose 20 pounds in one month; but, one must commit to an extreme diet of no more than 600 calories per day.
