IP56, IP66 waterproof sockets?

Can anyone explain the meaning of the various IP standards to me? I understand that IP5? is proof against a jet of water from any direction but what of IP6? and what do the last numbers denote?

The first number is actually for solid objects. 5 is dust protected, but some dust can still get inside. 6 is completely dust proof.

The second number is for water. 6 can withstand high pressure jets from all sides.
