I think I've found a major flaw in continuity in the Harry Potter Books!?

I've read each book at least 5 times, including book 7 and I have come to the conclusion that there is a serious problem that the author doesn't answer.

After the killing curse rebounds on Voldemort when he tries to kill Harry, what happens to his wand? He has no body so he can't carry it. She doesn't say that Peter Pettigrew nor anyone else found it in the ruins of the Potters house. So how is it that Pettigrew has it in book 4? When and how did he aquire it?

Voldemort's wand is a vital character in the story because of its relationship to Harry's and the push in Voldemorts mind for Killing Wand.

If I've missed something in the books that answers this question please let me know

If you will remember from Book 7, the Potter house was left in its ruined state as a memorial for Lily and James. As the house was in its ruined state, Pettigrew could have retrieved the wand at any time between the death of Lily and James and the point when he turned himself into "Scabbers". There are any number of places that he could have then hidden the wand, including (but not limited to) a vault at Gringott's or with another Death Eater.

He also could have found the wand after he was found out in Book 3. Since the Potter home was left in it's ruined state, it would be possible that Voldemort's wand was still there, perhaps having rolled under a piece of furniture or into a poorly-lit corner were it would be easily missed when the bodies of James and Lily were removed.

As the book never explicitly states how Pettigrew found the wand, it is also possible that another witch or wizard (for example, Bathilda Bagshot or one of the other residents of Godric's Hollow, or perhaps a member of the Order) who thought the wand belonged to either Lily or James removed the wand from the Potter house. Book 7 states that James did not have his wand with him when he answered the door for Voldemort, so his wand was most likely in the room he had just left, which was the same room Lily and Harry were in. This means that three wands would have been in the room, making it easy to mistake Voldemort's wand for James'. As very few witches and wizards study wandlore, only a skilled few (such as Ollivander) would have immediately recognized the difference. Pettigrew could have stolen the wand from this person. As Pettigrew could change into a rat (and he was not registered with the Ministry as having this ability), is would be very easy to sneak into virtually any home and steal the wand.

It is also possible that Pettigrew or another Death Eater used a Summoning Charm to retrieve the wand from the Potter home. The wnad could then have been given to, or stolen by, Pettigrew.

Another possibility is that Nagini (who would have been a horcrux by this time, as Harry was the last horcrux) found the wand and kept it safe. Although Voldemort had spent several years with no body, Nagini was able to find Voldemort as soon as he had a body again, so the connection between them was obviously very strong.

There are other unanswered questions in the book... What was Umbridge doing from the time she left Hogwarts (literally running for her life) to the time she returned to the Ministry? How was Snape still gathering information for the Order between the time of Dumbledore's death and Scrimgour's death? What happened to Fluffy the three-headed dog after Book One, or to Buckbeak when Sirius returned to Grimmauld Place? Do Harry, Ginny, and the kids live at Number 12 Grimmauld Place, the house Sirius willed to Harry (and if so, diod they find a way to remove Mrs. Blacks portrait)? Did the girl who told about Dumbledore's Army ever get the word "Snitch" removed from her face? What happened to Luna after Hogwart's?...

I think these questions are deliberately left unanswered because they are not important to the main plot or the main sub-plots. While it is important that Voldemort gets his wand back, the specifics of how her got it are not as important. To tie up each loose end would have made the story very long (hundreds of extra pages) and boring (do we really care if Hedwig's body was recovered many months later and she got a proper burial? or the exact date of Bathilda Bagshot's death?), so I think J.K. Rowling decided to leave a few loose ends for the sake of keeping the story both interesting and a reasonable length.

Nobody would dare to do that? Remember this was done by a team of murderers. You can't tell if a Portkey is made, like how you can't tell if a wizard Apparates without a license like Harry did in Deathly Hallows, so no one would've known about that one, and the only way the Ministry would've found out it was a Portkey was if Harry took it back, which he did.

You sound like the type of fan who is already in many Harry Potter discussion groups. Just incase you missed one, I put some of the best bellow.

Sirius Black followed Peter Pettigrew starting from Godric Hollow withou needing his motorbike. That may mean Peter had been there (and could have recovered the wand) before Sirius cornered him.

Since the wand would have been near baby Harry with his fresh scar, Peter either was scared to harm the baby that stopped the Dark Lord, or Hagrid came in about then, and Peter did his rat impersonations while Hagrid was gathering Harry.

there are alot of ways that the wand could have been recovered. One of his death eaters could have used a summoning spell, the wand could have been enchanted to pop back to a certain place if anything should happen, maybe the ministry decided to keep it somewhere but pettigrew managed to steal it. The problem is, its not crucial to the storyline so Rowling didn't put it in.

She does say that at some point, Peter Pettigrew finds the wand. This chronologically happens after PoA, while Peter is searching for Voldy, but I think it is mentioned (and I'm not certain of this) by Dumbledore in HBP. Again, I'm not sure here, but I do know it was Peter who retrieved the wand.
