It all depends on the babys levels. It is jaundice. You must watch out though because some doctors will say the baby is fine but when you take the baby home sometimes the jaundice levels will increase. I forget what the number is i think it is 20 or 21 but when the baby hits that level it can start to cause liver damage. If you arent sure just take the baby to get checked. This happened with my niece and they actually sent her home with a machine and we had to wrap her in it and her body was glowing because it was basically a light that was wrapped around her. The machine doesnt always work she left the hospital and her level was about 13 and it increased to 19 and she was hospitalized. So if the baby is turning more yellow after coming home take the baby back to get checked.

Why psychology class? seems more medical. Yellow=jaundice which is pretty common in newborns. Usually the hospital puts the baby under a light to cure the jaundice, so whatever residue is left when you bring him/her home you just need to follow the doctor's instructions on feeding and exposure to natural light which is healthful for the baby.

I would take the child to the pediatrician the baby could have jaundice or a part of the liver is not functioning which could make the baby look yellow

    Psychology class?

A doctor will tell you to make sure the baby lays near a window where they get some son. It is jaundic -- everyone knows that and that is what we were told to do with my son and he was fine -- a LOT of babies have some jaundic when they are born.

Jaundice is something that happens quite often. To try and remedy it yourself you can put the baby in direct sunlight for periods on and off throughout the day. You would have to take the baby back to the hospital to have it's billirubin checked to make sure that it isn't going any higher and if it got worse, you might have to put it under superficial lights.

Is this a newborn baby? This is a question from a psychology class??? If you are talking about jaundice in a newborn baby, it needs to see the doctor. They may need to do a blood test to see how severe the jaundice is and to make a decision about phototherapy.

ok for starters this not for some psychology class because psychology deals with the human mind and the abillity to understand certain aspects of it. jaundice or yellowing of the skin is skin condition and has nothing to do with psychology.

    Its jaundie.

High levels of a pigment in the blood called bilirubin cause the skin to look yellow. When old red blood cells break down, one of the byproducts they create is bilirubin. Everyone's blood contains bilirubin, which is normally removed from the blood by the liver and then eliminated in the stool. Before your baby was born, your liver removed his bilirubin for him. Now it's just taking some time for his liver to take over the task — so the pigment builds up in his blood and his skin takes on the yellowish cast of jaundice.

thats what they call jondis. Almost every baby gets it. It will go away after time. My dr said one time a day lay the baby buy a window naked. if the baby starts to look yellow yellow take him to the dr. you can ask your dr for more info. but nothing to be concerned about. It will go away after time.

Call the doctor...Strip the baby except for diaper, lay in window. See about getting a bili light. The baby is jaundice.
