french lop rabbit advice?

Hi

im getting a french lop rabbit in about a month (cant wait!). I wanted somethink big and robust. But my previous rabbits have all lived outside and been small.

I want this one to live indoors (hes gonna have his own room). But do i just let him have free roam of the room or do i put a cage in it? How big should the cage/hutch be for such a big bunny? Also litter tray advice!

Thanks Kim

You might give him his own pen instead of a cage or build one from NIC panels which are wire panels that go by a number of names usually used to build shelving units. A simple google search for NIC cages will give you lots of ideas.

If he has his own room though, a cage won't really be necessary. Do remember to spend lots of time with him as sometimes bunnies with their own rooms don't get alot of attention as their rooms don't get a lot of traffic during the day.

As for a litter box, get a large cat box or a rubbermaid container. I suggest using wood horse stall bedding or a product like woody pet or feline pine as litter. They are kiln dried so they don't have the harmful fumes of other wood products and they are also safe if he ingests a few.

    Good luck!
