Mononucleosis?

About three weeks ago I came down sick with the symptoms of sore throat and a fever pushing 103 degrees and mild congestion. This lasted 3 or 4 days, and then I got better.

Now, about 3 days ago I started getting a sore throat again, and again I have mild congestion. This time I don't have a fever however. I also don't feel tired or fatigued.

Today, I learned that a kid that I spend a lot of time with and who I probably have shared drinks with has come down with mono. What I'm wondering are the chances are that I have come down with mono as well. I don't think my two sicknesses are related, but it is possible that both are symptoms of mono. So, basically what I'm asking is; do you think I have mono and why or why not?

Mononucleosis, commonly called “mono,” is also known as the “kissing disease” because it can be spread through the transfer of saliva during open-mouth kissing. However, any intimate contact with an infected person’s saliva may result in mono. It can also occur as the result of sharing food or beverages, eating utensils, straws, toothbrushes, cosmetics or pillows. Coughing and sneezing are other common methods of transmission. Mono is not spread as easily as other common infections (e.g., a cold, the flu, strep throat).

It is hard to say there is a blood test they can do to determine if you have it or not

when you get this virus your body makes anti-bodies to it and that is what they look for

if you have it you will be contagious for 10 days after that even if you still have symptoms you are not contagious

it is very hard to tell it from the flu

and it is different from person to person

    I had this when I was 15

while my friend spent two weeks at home

I spent a couple of months in hospital

some people do not get the fatigue

it is possible to get it from sharing a drink as that is how I got it
