Absolutely! Just two examples: Morality based on Bible teachings includes honesty and integrity (Hebrews 13:18, Ephesians 4:28) and faithfulness in marriage, which is meant to be a permanent relationship(Matthew 19:9) The Bible gives practical advice on how to have a lasting, contented marriage.(Colossians 3:18, 19; Ephesians 5:22-33.)

All society benefits from honest, hardworking citizens and stable families.

Yes! Bible morality is practical today, but not practiced by many many people.

Live by Gods Word! It is the only way to live. Read John 15.

God is the same yesterday, to day, tomorrow, and forever.

Why Christians Must Steal From Secular Morality:

    http://www.caseagainstfaith.com/submissions/steal_...

Christians must steal their moral rules from secular morality. They have no choice, as the Bible does not offer a moral system, it only offers a series of contradictory commands and a supposed threat of punishment in the "afterlife" for not following them - a punishment that is given equally to all violators - whatever the sin.

The Bible does nothing and can do nothing towards inculcating moral behavior on its own. Christians must steal from secular moral systems, and then merely graft their 'God threats' on top of this moral system. This is necessary. And the reason for this is simple: there is no morality in the Bible and there can be no morality in the Bible, because the Bible holds that 1) ALL 'sins' are equivalent (destroying any moral sense) AND 2) all moral behavior is immaterial, because works cannot save a person, AND finally all people are damned from birth.

In reality, Christians realize that some actions are more moral than others. They realize that moral actions exist in a hierarchy, and that rape is far worse than stealing a pencil. Yet the Bible holds that all 'sins' are equal, as all deserve the same punishment.

Christians also realize that humans can be moral agents... they expect moral behavior from others, and they view their own children as something to value. Yet the Bible holds that man is worthless, that he cannot be a moral agent, and that his sole salvation comes from grace. However, since Christians realize, implicitly, that all of these these points are obviously, prima facie false, they must steal from secular systems, that hold that 1) man obviously has a value 2) all 'sins' are obviously not equivalent and 3) a person cannot be held to be doing anything 'immoral' without intent.

It is. That is why people especially husband and wife promise to be faithful to one another and that is why even honesty people are much preferred. All this is based on the bible principle or moral. Killing is not allowed and people avoid it at all costs. If you know whats fright you would practice it if though we are prone to do bad things but that practical. Who wants to be married to a person who speaks lies, who wants an adultourous wife or husband, who wants a disobedient kid, who wants unforgiving people?

To which morals are you referring to? The "eye for an eye" moral? Or the "turn the other cheek" moral? The morals that claim I shouldn't beat my slaves (if I had any that is) except when they steal from me or lie? Or the morals given by Christianity in general that states a person shouldn't own other people?

Honestly, I don't think morals that were laid out for an ancient tribal people are practical at all for today. I'm sure we could find some morals in the Bible that we would agree with, but overall, they simply aren't meant for people of todays society. For one, there's too many contradictions such as the eye for an eye when compared to turn the other cheek... unless we want to twist it and claim that turning the other cheek means you're offering the other eye. =) The problem with using the Bible as a moral standard is that even those proclaiming one should "Follow the Bible" don't truly follow it like that... I've had enough Christians tell me that the Old Test doesn't apply, that Jesus did away with all of those laws (though you won't find Jesus stating any such thing in the Bible, he states the opposite "I have not come to end the law nor the prophets, but to fulfill them") So even they pick and choose which morals they want to follow according to their own perception of society and their life in it.

Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and

to day, and for ever". Yes, it is the same morality, but

much, much, much, harder to keep, because Satan

knows his time is short and is out to destroy. But

God is full of mercy, and has promised to never leave

    us.

CCC 1730 - God created man a rational being, conferring on him the dignity of a person who can initiate and control his own actions. "God willed that man should be ‘left in the hand of his own counsel,' so that he might of his own accord seek his Creator and freely attain his full and blessed perfection by cleaving to him."

Man is rational and therefore like God; he is created with free will and is master over his acts.

    I. Freedom and Responsibility

CCC 1731 - Freedom is the power, rooted in reason and will, to act or not to act, to do this or that, and so to perform deliberate actions on one's own responsibility. By free will one shapes one's own life. Human freedom is a force for growth and maturity in truth and goodness; it attains its perfection when directed toward God, our beatitude.

CCC 1732 - As long as freedom has not bound itself definitively to its ultimate good which is God, there is the possibility of choosing between good and evil, and thus of growing in perfection or of failing and sinning. This freedom characterizes properly human acts. It is the basis of praise or blame, merit or reproach.

CCC 1733 - The more one does what is good, the freer one becomes. There is no true freedom except in the service of what is good and just. The choice to disobey and do evil is an abuse of freedom and leads to "the slavery of sin."
