Web Hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own websites accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data centre. Webhosts can also provide data centre space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data centre, called colocation.

There are lots of free web servers available on internet some of them are

    www.freewebs.com

Web hosting is where someone has a computer set up as a server, where your site is located in a directory on that computer. It is not usually free. Free Web hosting is usually on a subdomain, where your URL would be something like yoursite.freehostsite.com. Although this is a good way to start learning how to make a Web site, once you get serious you will want your own domain name. That is another subject entirely.

To get a domain name you must register with a domain name system (DNS) service, and you must point your name service to your host's name servers either by entering two URLs or the shared IP address of the host server.

You can also purchase a dedicated IP with a host. With a dedicated IP you have your own IP address for your site, which you can actually type into your browser to access your site. Commercial Web sites use dedicated IPs, because with shared IPs unethical behavior by a site owner with the same shared IP can cause the IP to be banned. If an IP is banned, a commercial site cannot conduct business until it is put back online. Yahoo's dedicated IP address is 209.131.36.158.

If you want to get started making Web sites, I would recommend checking out some of the tutorials on the Web. You need to also get involved on forums that discuss Web design and development, because you will have many questions and you will get very frustrated if you don't have the patience to ask the questions and wait for the answers.

    Hi,

Web hosting is basically splitting up a computer and setting up services on it such as HTTP and email. You can do web hosting computer but the connection is not very fast. That is why most of the computers used in web hosting are in data centers where they have really big connections to the internet.

It is not free, there are free hosts out there but usually they make you look at ads or will disappear after a few months. Paid hosting is out there and pretty easy to get, it starts with a decent cheap host at about $7 a month.

Web hosting is what enables a Web site to exist on the Internet.

While you can get free hosting, it usually comes with lots of advertisements and terrible service.

I'd recommend starting with a Virtual Private Server which will give you the most bang for your buck (as low as $5.95/mo).

There's a good review of some providers at http://www.unlimitedhostland.com/

    Good Luck!
