laser printer or ink jet printer??
I have to decide between:
a) an inkjet printer which is also a scanner+copy machine
OR
b) a laser printer which does nothing else
I have read almost every answered question on the topic and still can't decide so ... help!!!
I should add: it's for work home only and I only intend to print articles/ essays etc.

I got HP All-in-one (Inkjet printer+Scanner+Photocopier). I'm really comfortable with it and the cartridges are not that expensive compared to laser printers. Laser printer is faster in printing and got more quality but your only going to use it at home so Inkjet would be the best for home use.

I would select the ink jet. Even though the cartridges appear to be expensive, they are only 1/3 of what you pay for a laser
printer cartridge. But if you have really a great number of large reports to print, you might consider the Laser printer a better option.
Pros and cons to consider: ink jets print slower
the cartridges have to be replaced more often
but you can scan pictures into your document
The printer is usually less costly to buy
Lasers Print faster
the cartridges are harder and more expensive to replace
the cartridges last longer the printer itself is very costly.
Both need repair at times.
Why I'd select the ink jet is the price. If you need a new one it is easier to replace than repair it. But if you think that something might have to be done in a rush, then go with the laser. Good luck at school, I hope you have a great year!

If you don't need color, go with the laser printer. It is more reliable and requires less service. You can also refill the cartridges to save on cost.
That is the tradoff between the two.
ink jet printers require more upkeep and patience.
You can leave a laser printer set for months and it will probably print the next time you use it.
Don't try this with the ink jet printer. Everything will have dried up on you and you will need to change print cartridge or whatever needs service.

if you have no need for a scanner or a fax/copy then go for the laser printer.
If the laser is color great, if not hten you need to decide if you need colour.
Also, the laser toner cartridges cost a lot more than inkjet cartidges but last longer.
If possible - go for laser as these produce better quality prints but as you mentioned lack the extra's that you can get with inkjet.
Sorry, but its back over to you now!!
Good luck

ok well get the ink jet becasue you probably wont be printing color pictures all the time!
Also, the scanner and copy machine will help alot if you need multiple quick coppies!
A fax machine would be a good choice too, we got an HP one it works really good! it was around 100 bucks
