What is it about an EMO?

Honest criticism, thumbs up or down as you will

-Individuality isn't a term that applies to most Emo people. Normal, on the other hand, fits the bill perfectly. People don't become Emo anymore to be individuals; they become Emo to fit in and follow the peer group norm.

-Rock was dying before they came along, but Emo music sealed the deal. There's no such thing as good music anymore; it's all been replaced with whiney country music lyrics, a poor grasp on politics, and synthesizers where real instruments used to be, all rolled up into a single music genre.

-No one likes hearing people who have it better than them complain about the smallest, most insignificant problems in their lives, and how they're worthy of suicide. We're jealous of how well off they are to begin with, holding the thought of them offing themselves and not being our problem anymore just out of reach is just too cruel for words.

It's great to be an individual. It's horrible when you let someone else tell you what an individual is.

In all honestly, for some it is an expression of their own feelings, but it has become a trend that others follow, much like the Goths, the Mods, the Jocks and all the other child/teen groups that rise up. We all have joined some form of peer group, at some stage (unless we were homeschooled or kept under troubling parental/guardian control)

The troubling thing about Emos, is that they do tend to be gloomy in appearance and behavior, talking of death and suicide and other such morbid thoughts, but in reality they just want to shock elders/parental units ect, just like most other social groups formed in the teen years.

That's the thing that annoys me. They AREN'T individual or unique....they are just that, a clique, a peer group. They all dress similar, think similar, must act a certain way...you have to like the right type of music to be an emo. Some people don't like emos because they think the music is sh*t but personally I couldn't care less what music people listen to, it just annoys me when they say 'we're individuals' when they clearly aren't - if they were individuals they would be their own person and not label themselves as 'emos'. Why aren't people comfortable with being themselves? Why must they conform to a certain group?

No, it's wrong to whine and cry and cut yourself because your life is so "hard" even when you live in the suburbs and mommy and daddy buy you everything you want. And being Emo doesn't make you an "individual." It makes you annoying.

I'M WITH YOU!! they are normal people....and finally someone who doesn't follow others people....all emos want is to be in peace and to be seperated from the craziness....they are just like anyone else...just more unique

Well, there is something about them that makes you want to raise your hand and backhand their stupid faces as hard as you possibly can.
