Black girls..have you ever noticed...?
First let me start off by saying that I asked this question like 5 days ago I think, but it got deleted for what ever reason.
Anyway, have you ever noticed in movies/tv that whenever they have a Black girls as a character, and they want her to be mean, rude, loud, obnoxious, ignorant, jealous, etc. she is always dark skinned, fat, unattractive, just looking a damn fool basically. But whenever they want a Black girl in a movie to be nice, respectful, loveable and all that good stuff etc. she is always a biracial Black girl, typical light skin, long curly wavy hair, attractive. Nobody ever falls for the Black girl in like any movies!
Ok, look at the movie "Norbit", Eddie Murphy (a man, whats up with that?) plays a loud obnoxious ignorant jealous fat obese dark skinnned Black woman. And the sweet innocent girl he fell for was an attractive biracial female.
Also, look at for the previews of the new movie "Good Luck Chuck" and tell me if you founf something wrong with that.
I know I've already asked this, but please you can answer again, before it gets deleted, I wanted new answers from new people too.
DEE could you just hush, I didnt ask for your opinion, b/c you are not a Black girl, and you could NEVER understand whats its like, so you need to hush. Go away!

I am a white woman so I don't know if you will want my answer but I will give it to you. My daughter is mixed with PR and Dominican (fathers side) and white (my side) and has very dark skin, her role model is Haley Berry because she is a respectable black woman I am happy that she found some one to look up to, but sadly there are very few black female role models for her to look up to. Look at BET, MTV and honestly ask yourself what a white person who looks at that sees. I will tell you if you want to know, we see girls with no aspirations, no self respect, and women who use their bodies to get a head even if this is not the case. Listen to the music that is produced, it is all B*tch this and H0E that, Suck this and lick that, so when you wonder why there are no good roles for black women to portray look at your culture and see what they are putting out there. Be honest with yourself, and I am sure you will find the answer you are seeking. Then the other problem is that women like Oprah who are successful are not role models to young black girls because she does not run around with her @ss hanging out, and parents don't teach their children to aspire to be like her instead they tell them to be like the rappers, and gangsters, and hoochies they see on tv! When black culture finally gets fed up with women being looked at strictly as pieces of meat then something will change, believe it or not black money is bigger than white money but rather than buy land black people buy rims! Good luck and I hope I gave you another perspective.

I am not saying white people are perfect and yes I am white, I am disgusted with the way the girls are portrayed in the girls gone wild films and the girls like Brittany Spears and in my home (I can not speak for every white person in America) those girls are not role models. There is this video that some one sent to me on the net and it was created by a black man who is sick of the way black people act, check it out, even though it is funny it is true.

Like I said until there is a national out cry for more positive role models and less degradation in the music that is produced no change will come.

No, I don't really see that. I'm looking at a movie now with an extremely attractive brown skinned black woman in it. I'm not sure what her name might be Christina Milian. Anyway, most black women in movies these days seem to be brown skinned and with beautiful figures. So, I say the message is pretty black women are classy, slender, and fit. Complexion doesn't seem to matter in the movies.

You know what you are right, you have a good point. Black women since the early days of the movie industry have always been casted in degrading and stereotypical roles. I rarely see a popular film with an attractive, smart, down to earth, the girl next door as a black woman. Black women is always portrayed as loud, jealousy, promiscuous, and ignorant. And you wonder why people have such a low opinion of black women. It it is sad, that writers and the entertainment industry only think that you have to be light skin and with long hair or "biracial" looking to be an attractive female in Hollywood. I think the black actresses need to protest and ban some movie companies and demand better roles. Because usually, most people based their perception of people based on what they see and observe. If they keep seeing the same "stereotypical" black women, than it is hard to image a black women as anything else positive.
To Heather C: if you are solely base black women on what you see in music videos and tv, than that is sad. Of course you are going to have a low opinion. TV is used as marketing and for money, so to say a handful of peolple represent a race is wrong. A lot of people can say that about any race if they look on at tv soletly. Their are plenty of great black role models out their and they are not only in th Entertainment industry. Try, doctors, lawyers, writers, business owners as role models. Secondly, who says all black people act and aspire to be like the things you mention? Just because some people do it doesn't mean they represent a whole race of people. If you think is what black culture solely is, than you need to do more research. Their are more and more black women going to school, so the comment you made regarding black women is false because it doesn't represent the whole.

I would say you were right if not for the movie "The Cookout"
Where the girlfriend who is rude is abnoxious does not fit your discription infact it is the exact opposite role play than what you describe...
there are others but I don't have time to make a list for you
listen there are stereotypes all around...
Why is the white guy in these movies always the goofy, straight laced gut that can't get by on his own

Indeed, I have noticed that.
When I was in my 12th grade yr in high school we ended up having an open discussion at the beginning of class, and we talked about this topic.
Now, there was only 2 drk skinned females in the room and that was myself and another female, and the rest of the females were light skinned ... and they were saying how they felt we (the chocolate gals) were lucky and how pretty we were, and how our clear our complexions is, ETC ... yet that still didn't exclude the fact of what you're saying, it's so true.
Very sad to say ... I'm so tired of seeing the drk female portrayed as the ghetto, loud, ignorant, uneducated, 10 different baby daddies having, can't use proper English females in these shows and movies.
One thing I can say, the drk female (as well as some of the other females I have met) are very beautiful, modest, educated, can speak English very well ladies ... so for my chocolate ladies ... "Stand Y'all Azz's Up, And Take A Bow, You Sexy Ladies You" (ok sorry y'all I don't cuss, LOL)
Source(s): As I grew up ... my names were ... Chocolate Bunny, Chocolate Princess, Chocolate Baby, Chocolate Girl, and Sweet Chocolate ... You know what ... I'm not even mad, lOL - MajorCrumpetLv 41 decade ago
Yes. Nobody ever said that the media wasn't prejudiced. And Eddie Murphy is a fool. If he didn't do that stupid movie he could have had a shot at the Oscars, but oh well. He deserves what he gets.
The idea is simple, as you have stated:
light+long hair+ skinny= beautiful black girl
fat+dark-skinned+ non-processed hair=ugly black girl

yea i hate that so anytime i see a beautiful dark skinned sister doing it big i like to give a shout.
notice in music videos to. In some songs about love and happiness (i.e. buddy by musiq (dont get me wrong i LUV me some musiq)) the main girl is a light bright. Now take a hard time or break up song (like mario how do i breathe or musiq's teachme) and the lady is a nice chocolate color. Any relationship??? I dont know

I personally think it is a strategy (which, to some extent, has worked with the black males) to make a person feel unattractive and unwanted and therefore try to seek love/happiness/self-esteem from the people that are depicted as beautiful and attractive. I don't think it has the same effect on black women though because men and women are not the same (let alone black women). My prejudice is that men are stronger than women physically while women are stronger mentally. Now you couple/combine mental strength and pride and tell me if that strategy is going to work with black women. Infact it just makes matters worse - according to me.

Yes I have noticed. This happens in almost every movie and it's got to stop. I just named some tv where this happens. I named some of the stuff off the top of my head. I shouldn't be able to name that many on the top of my head so you know this is a problem.

I'm not a black girl but yes I've noticed that also. You think
that they could even get a pretty dark skin girl to play the
obnoxious part. But the racist mentality dictates the fear
is a large ugly black female, they do the same with the
men. If they wan to project meaness, fear a large muscular
or large black man. You hardly see a big fat white guy
or chick to promote that. I think Eddie Murphy knows that
that's why he is a producer, and caters to that mentality in
order to sell his pictures. If you noticed in all of his pictures
he's never involved a black white relationship with a black
male white female. But the there were inuendos in
daddy day care that the cute black girl was interested in
the funny looking white boy. Don't let these things annoy
you, intelligent people know what's going on. Unforturnately
most of America isn't very intelligent. As For HEATHER C
I doubt that she is white but to answer her question,
Have you not seen Girls gone wild., what about Jena Jamison
biggest white female in the porn business. You must not
see the headlines with Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears etc.
PSYCHMAj323, that's what we're talking about.
Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears are not role models
but some unknown girl in a video shaking her butt is a
role model. Heather you're not making any sense at all.
There are way more slutty white girls in magazines and
movies, prostitution that are well known than blacks.
Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Madonna, The white
ladies of wrestling, China-made a porno with her
husband. Linda Lovelace-Deep throat, What about Bill
Clintons little girl friend who made hx with the ********
Monica Lewinski, I think you need to rethink before you
make comments like that. There are a lot of positive
black females in America besides Oprah Winfrey,
Halle Berry or Condoleeza Rice. These are the
role models white people recognize. There are a lot
of professional Black Ladies, whom are professors
businesswomen, political activists that you are unaware.
Black society isn't limited to white media concoction!
There are a lot of white illiterates especially in the
rural areas but you won't see that side even though
it makes up 25million of white society. Whites feel
embarrassed and try to cover these people up.
It's hard to hide 25million people. For some reason
the 5-6 million blacks that are in ghettos, poverty and prison
seem to be the top of the media as always.
