Today is blood donation day.....?

Today is the international blood donation day, and how many of you, have donated blood, and how many times, not for your own relations, but for those whom you never knew.?

Update:

Hey.. I myself gave blood 32 times, you can yourself guess how much is that..

And out of these, 8 times for my father, the rest for others I donot know.

Also those medically unfit to donate blood....Give charity in some other way.

I am unable to do so because of medications that I take. I think it is one of the most important things that a person can do. There is no substitute, no medication that can do the same thing for a patient. In a way it is like money. If you have enough, share it. Not only are you sharing blood, you are sharing life.

I retired from the ranks of active blood donors after an exposure to hepatitis C. Even though I do not have the disease, I now carry the antibodies to it and I can never donate blood again.

When I retired, I was one pint short of 2 gallons lifetime.

I do encourage people who are able to donate blood. The supplies are dwindling and all types are urgently needed.

I've had malignant melanoma and am not allowed to donate blood because of that ... but before that, I gave blood every two months for 9 years, and when my boss had a brother who had cancer, I got an 'exception' from my doctor and gave blood once a week ... so when I had to 'stop' I'd given well over 2 gallons of blood, total.

I didn't donate today but I've donated about 6 times during my life. I donated twice in high school, 3 times on my college campus and once at a bloodmobile....

I've donated blood once and hope to do it again! I sometimes have low iron and my weight is close to the minimum, so its usually kind of risky for me, but if I could, I would!

i try to donate whenever they're in my town... i've tried probably 5 or 6 times to donate but they've only taken my blood half of those times because of low iron

I have never donated blood except for blood tests. I hate needles and cannot imagine ever doing it.

I used to, twice a year, until medical problems made my blood unacceptable, and no it is not "aids" related.
