    Try Having a Look in the Oxford Book of Names this BOOK covers Place , Surname and Given names. The Internet is a wonderful tool to use in your research, but some times you cannot beat a book.

    Benthebus has suggested an excellnt book, I think you can rent it from the library, I got mine from the cheap new book shop in town, and it's well worth the money I paid for it.

    for that, i go to google, search "Meaning of names" and the site is called "Behind the name"
