Help!!! GI problems and tired of getting the run around..?

Oh so this is what has happened.. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. Well my dr sent me to a gi who could not fix me so he sent me to an IBD specialist who said even though the ct entogeraphy (sp) showed inflamation and mucus consistant with cd and they was inflamation in my colon and stomach the biopsy says that it is not crohns. Now my thought is unless they can biopsy every single inflammed spot how can they say for sure that is not crohn's. He said he thinks it is IBS now and put my on antibiotics used to treat e-coli (which i do not have). He said if that does not hurt he will have to send me to another gi who only does ibs..

Ok so to sum up.. Is he just giving me the run around cause he does not want to take the time to help me?

What do I have? I am confused... Is anyone else going through this..

What do you think I have? What do you think I should do?

hi harl, it sounds like to me that you need to get another opinion. I went through the same thing at age 12 myself. I was dxed w/Crohns. Mine showed up via xrays that showed inflammation in my entire colon. I was put on the proper medication and got things under control.

For more information, please go to the crohns colitis foundation of america's site. there you can chat online or call a health care expert M-F 9 am - 5pm (EST).

Antibiotics tend to wreak havoc on the gut. It doesn't make sense to treat e-coli if you don't have it. Get your primary MD to give you a good referral to someone he trusts or ask a good friend or family member. You have that right to hire and fire your doctor. To me it seems he's giving you the brush off. If the results are consistent with Crohns, then I jusat don't get his dx of IBS.

feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I've had IBD for over 20 yrs. I wish you the best of health.

    Harleigh,

I have Crohns Disease and it sounds like you do too. You need to find a better GI to treat you. I went through the same thing with a doctor who essentially told me that I did not have CD even though I had been treated for it for years. I found a new doc right away. What state are you in? If in AZ I can give you a few names of reputable GI docs. Best of luck!

Sounds like an attractive disturbing time for you men on the second. when it comes to the x-ray, you might take it again to in which you had it performed and ask to talk with the radiologist as your GP has mentioned there may be anything on there however would not problematic and you're considering whether or not that is anything that are supposed to be handled urgently or no longer. The measurement of your mum's tummy might imply a quantity of matters and I do not wish to alarm you - colon melanoma can intent some of the matters you're describing and might have compatibility together with her feeling fatigued and the alterations within the bowel dependancy. It might be anything like Crohn's diseae or ulcerative colitis which motives the anguish and alterations within the bowel however would not provide an explanation for the spleen drawback. The spleen has a tendency to magnify if there may be anything inflammatory occurring. I might strongly endorse you search a moment opinion on your mum, many humans are reluctant to difference medical professionals as they believe of them as a god, mainly those people who are at the older aspect. My mum in legislation ended up with bowel melanoma considering the fact that noone quite listened to her as she whinged plenty and Dr's disregarded her so for those who believe that her general practitioner isn't doing the correct factor for her - transfer on. Good good fortune
