Wasteful packaging for CD's / DVD's ?
I have been buying lots of original VCD's and DVD'd, all these contain an excessive amount of packing sometimes even 3 layers, plastic, cardboard/paper, plastic casing ....
I thought that was really wasteful to just pack 1 DVD disc have so much packaging on top. Perhaps Iam paying extra for that packaging too.
What do you think ?
Will a suggestion help the selling companies reduce packaging material on DVD/CD ?

Not only is it expensive, its killing the us. Plastic is toxic as is the process that produces it.
I have quite a few cds with cardboard covers so they definitely work. I'm hard on my stuff and my copy of Actung Baby (U2) has survived in cardboard for 15 years.
media companies live by the motto that if one person sends their opinion in a letter, it represents a million people who think the same thing. That's alot of power in one letter, more than you'll ever get from a politician.
So, write to the company and ask for environmentally responsible packaging. Emphasize that you do the right thing by buying their crap instead of just burning it for free and now you want them to do the right thing with their packaging. Be sure to mention that all your friends feel the same way ( don't worry, they won't survey them)and how old you are as they respond to demographics.

Yes agreed. There are so many things i see that couls have a lot less packaging and like you sy we have to pay for this. Many people i`m sure would appreciate a little bit off the price for less packaging....

Yea most of that is to discourage shoplifting but they usually go in the restroom and strip it off and try to flush it down the toilet and walk out with the disk, hell on janitors and plumbers. So your also paying for that too.

The technology should all be downloadable for movies and games. You shouldnt need any packaging.
