This is totally old wives... I've read before doggy style is the best being that the Y sperm is faster.

This isn't really an old wives tale but there is some evidence that if intercourse occurs during ovulation one is more likely to have a boy. This is because xy carrying sperm are lighter and therefore faster and make it to the egg first. xx carrying sperm are heavier and therefore slower but live a little longer (I don't know why they live longer). Avoid sex on the days before ovulation (so there arent any xx sperm hanging around when the egg is ready).
I would think an ovulation kit would be necessary to be accurate.

the best way to get a boy is to use an ovulation test because male sperms swim faster but die off faster while female sperms live longer and swim slower
