A question about Muslim tradition.....?

I recently saw a picture of Muslims who were gathered to "pray on the death anniversary of Imam Ali, cousin and son-in-law of prophet Mohammed" and in one picture it shows them all with their right hand on their heads and in another, they all have the Qu'ran on their heads. Does anyone know the significance of these customs?

I'm sure the people you saw are Shiites Muslims. Most of them are from Iraq & Iran. They rever Imam Ali, who was assasinated when he was about to pray. As far as I know the Shiites today are divided among themselves, especially whent it comes to rituals.

This is no Muslim tradition honey, those people are shi'ah, and that is considered to be an inovation to the religion.......meaning it' s not part of islam.
