Is it necessary for me to amend my passport to my married name even if it expires on Sept. 2009?
We're traveling outside the US on may 2008. Would it be a problem if i don't have it amended yet? Is it ok if I wait until right before it expires?

If you have the ticket in your maiden name and your passport is in your maiden name it will work. It isn't hard though to get your passport amended. I did it. I was nervous that I wouldn't get it back, but I did. There is no charge to do this and I think it was only about 3 maybe 4 weeks when I got it. Go to the passport site and they will tell you what to do.
