I think cpocollins, you missed Pedrooch's point. I dont think he meant A Rod is mediocre i think he meant that Knaublack, Giambi, Rogers were mediocre once they went to the Yankees, and I agree. As far as Texas paying a % of A Rod's salary. yes they do but its a small %. And A Rod does not deserve the MVP, yes his numbers are impressive but he is not a clutch player and never has been since joining the yanks, and in post season hes horrible.

And no matter who was playing 3rd base the yanks would have made the playoffs if not the division leader then as a wild card like this year

How many Yankees have ever hit 54 home runs and driven in 155 RBIs in the same year? Only one - the Babe. As far as him not earning his salary, do you realize that Giambi and Clemens are making almost as much? With the team batting .121 as a whole, A-Rod is not the only problem. When he opts out and goes to the Cubs or Boston, you will be sorry. But then again, you already are a very sorry and phony fan. Real fans stand by their players in both good and bad times.

He needs to get lost now . I am sick of your great June, July numbers and huge choke jobs in the playoffs. And I don't want any of those "if he didn't carry them they wouldn't be here"... arguments. Great players produce in the playoffs. Alex's stats are laughable now in pinstripes during October. He is a disaster. This isn't going away soon either. He is scared out of his pants at the plate, the gorilla on his shoulders vlooks like King Kong, and his teammates all know he is of no help when it counts. So, let him have another MVP trophy and get him the heck out of here. Spend his 30 million on another veteran arm and 3rd baseman this offseason. Get rid of Clemens, Mussina, Damon and Rodriguez. Resign Jorge, Mariano, get Joba and Kennedy into the rotation and sign a trusted veteran to round out the rotation with Pettitte and Wang. That is a much better plan than bringing back Choke-Rod.

Fine by me if Rodriguez opts out and leaves. Then the 2008 Yankees will miss the postseason like the 2007 team should have (stupid Mariners), and maybe the younger generation of Yankee fen -- the really annoying ones -- will finally have their faith shaken, because they sorely, desperately need it. They have no worthwhile perspective, and maybe they'll finally begin to start getting close to nearing initiating the early stages of commencing to appreciate baseball better when Jeter finally gets to enjoy an 8:00 am tee time at the Maui Players Club on October 1.

Currently, the Rangers are paying a good portion of his contract and he is affordable as long as he continues with his current contract. But, with Scot Boras as his agent, he will opt out to get a bigger contract which will take the Rangers off the hook for the rest of the $. I understand it's also a business and I imagine A-Rod brings in more revenue than it would cost the Yanks to pay him $30 mil/yr, but, as a fan, I can't stand watching him in the playoffs.

By the way, Yanks would not have won two of their championships without Chuck Knoblach. He was the best leadoff hitter they had since Ricky Henderson and they still have not found one to replace his leadoff production.
