Do you leave a tip at a breakfast buffet?
I am a breakfast server at a hotel restauraunt. There is not continental or complimentary breakfast. Most people chose to eat the buffet, which costs $7.00. We have to serve customers coffe and drinks, and we remove their plates after they are through eating. It's a buffet, so they use clean plates when returning to the buffet. How do people feel about tipping at a breakfast buffet, located in a hotel restauraunt?

Can't really make a living, $7.00 an hr. People should tip you. Maybe try to find a better tip job. I hate a job where I go out of my way because I enjoy what I do. It turns where there is no money in it. So I'll move on to something better. Now days people really need to be making at least $10.00 an hr. Plus. Milk alone is so high. Gas for your car. rent. The freak n power bill Etc!! Good luck! Oh I aways tip!

I always do. Most likely they aren't getting paid very much by the hour and servers depend on their tips to pay bills, eat, and provide for their kids. They bring drinks, give refills, and keep your coffee hot while you are enjoying breakfast. And since it is a buffet people are eating a lot of plates and you have to constantly pre-bus. I say as long as the server keeps up with drinks and keeping your table clear of unnecessary dishes then they deserve as much of a tip as any other server.
Source(s): this might not apply to you but I know that since I have two little kids, whenever we go out to eat as a family we generally go to buffets just because it's easier to find something for my picky kids to try and we can eat quickly and get out before anyone has a meltdown. So you might have more tables with children and those tables are always a little more demanding - Limestoner62Lv 61 decade ago
Depends on the place, some buffet restaurants the staff works harder than the sit-down resturants, serving beverages, filling glasses taking dishes and definately deserve a tip, then there are others where diners pay upfront serve themselves, including dessert and beverage and you don't even see any wait staff.

I always tip at buffets.
Maybe not the standard 20%.
More like 10-15%, depending on the service.
