This is for anyone who has had a violation.?

Do any of you feel like the "violation" policy is stupid? I just got 2 violations today from answers that I thought were apt. One to a lazy lady in NZ and one to (as it turns out) someone who baited answerers into thinking one thing while the oppisite was true - then he took offense when his trap worked. Anyone else had this happen to them?

Of course I think it is stupid! Ridiculous, actually. They just remove the answer, and don't bother looking at the stupid question that caused the answer.

I don't know what yours was about, but, someone asked what a dream about a frog dying meant, and I said it meant she was going to meet Prince Charming.......what's the deal ??? Why is that a violation ? One time I got a violation for answering a question with a question. When enough people get annoyed about it. they do something about it .Really, I've seen in the past where people were complaining about stupid violations, things that really didn't merit being a violation (like someone was having a bad day and taking it out on us !)....anyway, it stopped.

Not really. It helps accomplish two major things...

    1) mitigate spamming on the site

    2) support the purpose of the site

To help prevent future violations (and eventually a possible suspension), please thoroughly read the following links to learn more about the service you are using:

There is an appeal system, as the system is flawed one. It relies on human discretion AND on automated software. If you feel that you have not violated guidelines or TOS (http://info.yahoo.com/legal/us/yahoo/utos/utos-173... ), click on the link contained in your violation e-mail and lodge your complaint politely with Customer Care.

Source(s): Successfully appealed at least 4 out of 5 violations, working on that 5th one. (could be a little more violations than that...lost count)

I have discovered that violations are unavoidable but comparitively rare. I used to be indignant with the censorship involved but realistically, someone will always want you to 'shut up' about something. I've learned to take it from the source like everything else. Bad water is spit out and you rinse yyour mouth with something that tastes better. It works!

I received a violation about a month ago, even though I didn't do anything wrong. Yahoo! Answers should check to see if I did anything wrong before removing my answer.

I feel your pain - they kept hitting me with violations to the point where I wanted to strangle somebody. They never threatened to take away my account, and the violations are becoming less frequent now.

The whole violation thing is merely a form of censorship. It should be stopped immediately.

Yeah, or from someone who figures they're more likely to get best answer if they report everyone else.
