Baby Shower Gift Ideas?

I'm going to a baby shower for 2 girls I work with, that I really don't know too well. One of them I barely know at all.

Any ideas on some gifts that don't cost much?

    $10 ideas:

    - gift basket with lotion, wipes, baby wash, baby powder, small toy

    - Towels with washcloths. You should be able to get 2 towels and 4 washcloths for this price.

    - small package of diapers

    - package of recieving blankets and a small package of pascifiers.

    - baby bathtub

    $20 ideas:

You could make a really pretty gift basket of different themes.

    - Small package of diapers, wipes, powder, diaper rash cream, and perhaps some baby motrin if there is money left.

    - Johnson & Johnson baby care set. Has grooming needs and medical supplies in a convient carrying case.

    - Walmart has a Fisher price baby monitor for $19.88

    - baby bathtub filled with baby wash, wash cloths, a hooded towel, and some baby lotion

    $25 ideas:

    - Boppy pillow

    - Diaper Genie

    - lower grade bouncy seat

    - that activity mat with the lion on it

diapers -start with size 1 (NB may be too small for a chunky baby and only last a couple weeks) gifts card to Walmart or Target (generally a superstore) that have a baby motif printed on it, not a gift card from a specialty store like BabiesRUS - for one, there's only one store in my town (15 miles across town), and prices are expensive, even on sale (30% off of a $10 jumpsuit is still an expensive $7 one, I can easily buy for cheaper elsewhere), and third reason, if the parents have alrady stocked up on baby item and don't need anything , they can use the card for groceries. I am a very careful with my baby items budget as they grow so fast, and I always buy for next year (s) on sale/clearance at the end of the season. So, I REALLY appreciate when I get the receipt along with an item I don't need so I can return it.

I know a couple of ladies that bring non-baby things for the mom as a gift. I received bath salts with instructions to take time for myself after the baby was born. Another friend received lingerie to remind her that she was still sexy post baby. My sister received a novel for when she was tired of reading baby related books. I also received a lot of receiving blankets and bibs and found them to be very, very useful. Also, diaper shirts and onesies. Can never have too many of them and they are inexpensive. The Joe line (joe.ca and available in Superstore) carries really cute and well made but not expensive baby items.

Excellent ideas. You can find some awesome gift ideas at Http://www.WoodyThings.com also. You can have an item personalized with the baby's name or the last name, etc. there are keepsake boxes, jewelry boxes, decorative shelf setters, etc.

Towel and/or washcloth (hooded towels are great)

    Booties or socks and hat

Books – baby board books or soft books will be used for a long time and are inexpensive.

Small rattles or toys – I bought someone a lovey and it was around $10. Here it is:

You don't have to spend a lot on a gift. It is really the thought that counts.

    Diapers

    Blanket

    inexpensive outfits

    onesies and bibs

It may not sound exciting, but it will be used.

Get them some diapers and baby wipes.

If you aren't too familiar with them, that will be a gift that will certainly come in handy and doesn't require a long term relationship to be appreciated.
