How come the Division Series are best of 5? and not 7?

Honestly.. I think 7 is too many games.

Just like the other guy said, stupidity. But, then again, at the rate they're going, not only will there be a 7-game division series, but there's also talk of another round of playoffs if expansion is allowed to continue. Then, it will be just like the NBA with the playoffs going three rounds before the final series.

Sample quote from the opening game of the Series: "Well, Merry Christmas to all of you and welcoming you to a pleasant, cold evening here at Yankee Stadium for the first pitch of the World Series...."

Stupidity.

They should shorten the season to the original 154 games and only play 7 game series.

Good God ,I couldn't stand These Tbs announcers another 2 games,I so glad the other series ended so quickly.

Because it's baseball. The season is too F'n long and then they want to hurry through the post season. Too many purists want to keep the game stagnant.

That would drag the post season on until almost Thanksgiving.

i would like it better as 7 games..gives both teams a better chance of winning

because otherwise the postseason would be more than a month and the want to keep it the whole month of october and thats it
