Photo scavenger hunt?

I am organizing a scavenger hunt at my community college for the photography club. I need some ideas for my list. Also, can anyone figure out how I can turn this into a fund raiser? I thought about getting a local business to donate a prize and charging students (or groups of 4 or less) 3 or 5 dollars to play. Can anyone add to this? Thanks!

I've done this before. You should try to keep your subjects within a rather confined area. It would depend on whether the players are going to be on foot or driving as to how wide a range you choose. I don't know the terrain, so I won't give you dimensions, but the one I did was for driving and I covered a territory of about 10 square miles, sticking to main roads so everyone actually stood a chance of seeing everything.

I had an old stone mill wheel that just sits on the ground in our park, some ventilators on top of a building that you see at red light, interesting windows, yard sculptures and other decor, ornate parts of buildings like parts of church windows or weather vanes, little buildings themselves, small portions of large signs, and so on.

Charge an entry fee, of course. If it's a fund raiser, you can charge something like $10 to even $50 for a set of photos. Offer a prize that is about 5 times the entry fee for first place, 3 times the fee for second place and double the fee for third place.

Do NOT accept anything other than the exact correct answer. Require a street address if one is available. Put this in the rules. Give examples, like:

"Chair in the yard at 24 Woodcrest Avenue" as opposed to "Chair on Woodcrest."

"Corner of Highway 77 Motel sign" as opposed to "Part of Motel sign."

    Good luck!

We did one at our local photo club a couple of months ago. The Theme was "The Alphabet". Take pictures of things that looked like letters of the alphabet. It was fun, challenging and very well received.

If you can come up with a good way to turn it into a fund raiser, please (and I am serious here) email me with the details. We would be very interested in doing this.

We did one a looonnnnggg time ago ... We had to hunt down local artists works using a digital camera and take pictures, of pictures....

It was basically a scavenger hunt but it was supposedly for educational purposes and to get us kids in some museums... lol.

Try your local big-name discount store, like WalMart, they usually donate pretty easily, talk to a Co-Manager or Store Manager.

Dunno if this is what your looking for, hope it helps!
