What did your doctor prescibe for diaper rash?

My doctor actually had me get a over the counter called Resonal. Its hard to find. You have to go to one of the pharmacy stores usually to find it. It is really for burns cuts and stuff like that. It is really thick so my son stayed dry and the medicine healed the rash the next day and he had blisters and all. Nothing else worked. We have even used it on other family members that have gotten chapped legs from getting wet at Six Flags and the jeans rubbed them. I never use anything else on my son now.

My pedi prescribes desitin and A&D ointment. That said, my daughter is very sensitive and when she had a rash the zinc oxide in the desitin dried her out so bad that she was chaffed and bleeding. I never used the A&D as I don't use petroilium products. I make an ointment out of grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, beeswax and a blend of essential oils for my children now. You can add the essential oils to just grapeseed, sweet almond, jojoba or olive oil if you don't want to fuss with making an oinment. Don't use more than 4 drops of essential oil to one oz of the carrier oil as babies are sensitive. It works every time the first time. I do not recomend oil of oregeno on a baby as it is not an appropriate oil from all the studies that I have read. I do recomend small doses of lavender (for healing and fighting bacteria), chamomile blue (as an anti-inflamitory to relieve the pain), tea tree (if yeast is present). Also, a simple wash with baking soda and water at every changing will do wonders. Stay away from wipes when a rash is present. If you must use wipes than rinse them in water. It stings otherwise. I always used Desitin or A&D Ointment. I never got a prescribed medication for what I was in fact a diaper rash.

I will tell you what works! I promise my son gets diaper rash something awful. Get oil of oregeno, and do 4 drops with 2 tsp of olive oil. It kills bacteria, this especially works if the rash is little red bumps which is yeast(bacteria). Nothing the doc every perscribed worked for my son.

I used (and still use) Desitin for both my boys. My mom used it when I was a baby and it's fabulous. Both my boys had horrible diaper rash (to the point where their bottoms were almost bleeding). That stuff cleared it right up. It's available at Wal-Mart (no prescription required).

Well if your doctor is actually prescribing something for a diaper rash, I'm assuming its for a yeast infection. I've used many different things, such as Nystatin and over the counter Lotrimin AF (its for athletes foot, but also works for yeast infections...).

My Daughter had red bottom from birth We used Sudocream (www.sudocream.com) or any cream which has Zinc oxide and is thick so it outs a protectiver layer on the affected area. My daughters cleared up in about 2 days

I used so many creams but nothing worked for my child until I started using a cream called Vasogen. It works like magic!! try it.

Nystatin works for fungal rashes, and Butt Paste for nonfungal.
