I am happilly married with two children, Yasmeen and Moses. I am a painter but have earned my keep as a manicurist and I love doing pedicures. I am currently only working while my baby Moses is sleeping and I love being with him and not stressing over how much milk I have been able (or not able) to express. Can you tell I had this issue when I went back to work with my first child?

  • Does anyone know of a Dutch settlement with a name that contains 14 letters?

My daughter is in fifth grade and this is the one question we could not find an answer to. I promise not to tell her the answer but now that my husband and I have both put in the time to figure it out, we are both dying to know what it is. Was hoping someone here might know the answer.

Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Can you use moon sand in a sandbox?

So my mother just bought my children a Step 2 water/ sand table. I know how to make moon sand and was thinking that it would be really fun to put moon sand in the sand part of the table but am wondering if that is advisable as it appears there is lid on this table. OK, I realize that I probably just answered my own question but I would really love to know if any of you have done this and had it work out for you. Thanks ahead of time for the answers!

  • Question about best icings used for painting on a cake?

So I am a painter and I painted the invitations for my daughter's birthday party next week. She would love (and I would too) to have the cake decorated with the same picture. I was planning to bake the cake Thursday night, ice it on Friday am. (so that this icing will set?) and then come back with a paint brush (synthetic) and use watered down icing and food coloring as the paint. Would this work and what kind of icing would be best? I was thinking that a butter cream would be good for this as it gets slightly hard. I am guessing that fondant would be a great choice but I didn't want to use it as I have never messed with it before and with 3 kids (2 of them are 2 and under) underfoot, I think the fondant would be too hard to get precise.

  • My daughter is taking the nnat test this September, help please. ?

With a change in schools this fall I have been dismayed to find out that my daughter will need to take the nnat test in order to get in to the GT program at her new school. She has been in the GT program for two years and has maintained honor roll each quarter during these two years. Apparently she was placed in GT due to the fact that there was open space in the class and she was borderline. Her teacher the previous year had recommended she be placed there if possible. She has NEVER passed the nnat before and I just don't know how to help her do so. I have not stressed about this in the past but I have no other way to keep her in GT now. Is there anyone who can suggest ways in which I can help her prepare. If you are going tell me to ensure she gets good rest and a nutritious breakfast than don't bother, I know this. I just need to help her think like they want her to for one stupid test.

Thank you for your help with this.

  • I want to buy an MP 3 player for my nephew but have no idea of what I need to consider in my purchase...help?

My nephew is 12 and has not asked for anything for Christmas. My husband and I are on a very tight budget so funds are limited to about $35.00 for his gift. I think that he would really enjoy an mp 3 player but don't know if these cheaper ones are worth getting. If anyone knows about this, I would love some advice. Again, he is 12 so I am not looking for a high end kind of thing but at the same time, I don't want to buy him some piece of junk that he can't use either. Thank you in advance for answers. I need to go ahead and get this today or tomorrow if possible.

  • Has anyone here blocked some one just because they didn't like the response they were given?

I blocked someone once but only because they sent me the most offensive email ever.

  • Has anyone else posted an answer in the newborn section only to receive a nasty email from the one asking?

I did and it was chalk full of curse words and anger. Amazingling I was the one reported and I quote: "for answering a question with a question". I blocked the nut case who did this but saved the email and of course copied it back with my appeal.

I answered the question with an answer and used no foul language in the process. If a person doesn't want answers from people who think differently than them why post the question here?

OK., this has now turned in to two questions. I will stop while I am ahead. Just curious as to how many of you have experienced this and if so I would love to hear what you have done about it.

  • For moms that have decided to stay at home?

How many of you are struggling with the fact that you no longer contribute to the household income? Are you constantly finding that managing the household expensences on the new budget is like trying to redo a kitchen with $500.00...nearly impossible? I would just love to hear if I am in good company. I am now at home and I find that the struggle is never ending. I do work from home but with my focus on the children (8 year old girl and 5 month old boy) the income that I bring in now is not even taxable yet. With six years of single parenting I thought that I would be prepared to live on this income but this is the first year that I truly could only spend $25.00 on my daughters birthday gifts. Thank God for cheesy stores like Claires and her love for "long earrings".
