We are planning to visit L.A. next year from the UK. Looking for self catering accommodation?
We want to spend about a week in L.A. but would rather stay somewhere with a kitchen and laundry facilities than a hotel/motel . Does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere clean and not overly expensive.
Thanks a bunch
Oh yes, and a safe area please lol!

Look on-line for what we call "Extended stay motels" and "Corporate lodging". These are usually suite units that are furnished, and include a "kitchenette". Some may have laundry facilities on site, but I don't think you would find them in each individual unit. They usually cost about the same as a really nice hotel room. They are located through out the greater Los Angeles area. Try to find one that is near the majority of things you want to see while here. You can avoid a lot of traffic that way.
One example of many you might find is "www.corperatehousingetc.com". That is just one site that will give you an idea of what is available, and what the costs are in U.S Dollars. Since you will be doing your own cooking you might like to know that the three largest grocery store chains in SoCal are: Albertson's, Ralph's, and Von's, and if you will be renting (hiring) a car while here one of the more inexpensive agencies is: Enterprise Rental Car, I believe they are also in the U.K. Enjoy your stay in the "States".

Lot of Hotels and Motels have kitchenettes. Extended Stay type hotels are a good option.
It's a smart move to feed your self as much as possible and avoid eating out 3 meals a day. That way you can splurge on some fancy restaurant.
Have fun.

There are several Marriott lines that have kitchenettes--the Residence Inns,(and maybe Fairfield Inn--call and check); Extended Stay America is another chain. Marriotts are probably the most extensive line.

Funny. My husband and I are going to the UK next year, and we're looking for the same thing!
Go to Craigslist.com. Click on USA and then Los Angeles. Under "housing" you will find "vacation rentals". There will be some good listings for you there!

There are plenty of those I think. I forgot what they're called, maybe extended-stay places, type in that keyword into the search engines. It won't be hard to find one.
