Why do they put the screws upside down in eyeglasses frames?

aesthetic reasons. If they were the right way up the screw holes would be more visible. Also for manufacturing reasons as it is more difficult to screw down as the arm of the glasses has a curve to fit over the ear. When the drill holes are underneath that arm can be rested flat on a surface.

Possibly to stop the lenses spinning in their frames. Or perhaps to even things out if you go to Australia. Or to confuse feral cats into thinking you are actually upside down. By the way I think you are upside down. Perhaps the screws are loose.

All the specs I have bought have had the screws on top of the frames putting them on the bottom is one way of you going back to have them repaired or purchase a new pair I have just spoken to an optician friend of mine and he states that they should be on the top as movement on the arms does loosen them in time and you lose the screws.

I think its possibly cosmetic reasons, we dont really want to show that we have screws on our designer frames. and well theyre so tiny too that you can hardly tell theres a screw holding the hinges together but its vital part to keep the frames held together.

So they can charge you for the repair when you loose one of the screws. Silly.

In my experience one screw is up side down and the other one is the right way up, they do it to fool you!!!

Mine are the right way up. I don't think I've ever had a pair where they weren't.
