How to get MIL to give baby a nap?
My mother-in-law is wonderful enough to babysit during the week while I'm at work (she and my mom split the week so she's not doing all the daycare). Everything is going good for the most part except when it comes to naps. She insists my three month old son doesnt' need to nap in the afternoon despite the fact that he naps for both my mother and me. I know she'd rather play with him (this is her first grandchild) but I really really really need him to take that afternoon nap! How can I politely and gently get her to put him down without seeming ungrateful for her services?

Tell her flat out that while he may not seem tired at the time, it really negatively impacts the rest of his day, and he needs his nap. :)

Some gentle lie about how your baby's doctor insists on afternoon naps, claims they won't thrive without them, etc, should probably do the trick.
