Another thing you can try is checking out the website for the House Rabbit Society. http://www.rabbit.org/

THey have books you can order as well, and proceeds go to rabbit rescues. The site also has lots of information and links to vets and other sites about rabbits. Another very good website:

Very cute and the main homepage has good tips too.

All you have to do is Google "Books on raising rabbits" - I just did it - many books came up even one that was recommended by someone who had read six books on raising rabbits and said this one was the best. Good luck! I used to raise them for 4-H. My doe ate her babies (leaving the heads) - I was horrified - that killed my project for the fair and my love of the doe who did such a dastardly thing to her offspring. I was soon out of the rabbit business - but my grandfather raised them for years as meat - my grandmother's wonderful recipe for cooking rabbit died with her - have never been ever to duplicate it.

If you have a compost heap - the rabbit waste - straw and all, is a great addition. Good luck with your project!

    House Rabbit Handbook

Rabbit Health in the 21st Century

rabbit.org is the official site of the House Rabbit Society - they have all kinds of helpful information. You can also call your local exotic animal vet and ask them for recommendations.

Good luck and lots of bunny love!

  • We have been raising rabbits for several years, and I will often look back at some of the books we purchased when we first started. The one that was most helpful and provided the greatest amount of useful information is Storey's Guide to Rabbit Raising. You won't find a better book. You can get it at Amazom.com for just under $5

your local cooperative extension office or 4-H office should have guidebooks. Anotehr good place to look is www.arba.net. American rabbit Breeders Website.

Be careful with any info from house rabbits society info since their way of raising rabbits is totally different than a breeders way of raising rabbits

If you have a local Boy Scout store nearby, they should have a Merit book that explains all about Rabbit Husbandry. At least they used to. If not them, then your local Cooperative Extension that supports the 4-H program should be able to supply you with one.
