Why do some people think pets are human?

I would love to see more people arrested for animal cruelty. Usually there is just a fine. I would love to see stricter laws for pets. I have seen poodles caught on fire no one was arrested. I man molesting his dog was taken to court twice never arrested. Took forever to take down a puppymill.

Dogs burned with cigars for the fun of it. And your "sick" of seeing about arrests. I would love to see jail time for several people!!!

Yeah because animal cruetly is really "no big deal," right? Give ME a break! Do you think that just because they're animals they don't feel pain? Do you think it's ok for them to be beaten and tortured and the person doing all of that should have nothing done to them? How many times has it been said that cruelty towards animals is almost always the first sign that a person is going to be cruel towards another person. Most serial killers started out by beating, torturing, and/or killing animals. But it's ok, after all, they're "just animals," right? If I ever saw someone abusing an animal, I guarantee you that person would not be breathing for much longer. It sickens me the way some people can treat animals and then turn around and laugh about. And to give them nothing more than a slap on the wrist, community service, or a small fine is a JOKE!! Animals feel pain just as a human does. Just because they can't speak to us and tell us with words how much pain they are in, that doesn't mean they don't feel it. If you don't feed them, they starve and feel hunger pains just as a person does. If you beat them, they will feel pain and bleed just as a person does. I try to be nice to people when answering questions, but your attitude about this really p*sses me off. You're right, animals aren't humans, but that doesn't mean people should get away with abusing them. And you know what, I KNOW my pets love me. They can't say it, but I can see it in their eyes. As soon as I get home from work and go in the 'critter room' to get my ferrets out, they all jump up as soon as I open the door and they really do look excited to see me. And when they crawl in my lap and look up at me, I can see that they love me. They might not feel love the way a person does, but they know when they have it good and they're good to those that are good to them. I really hope you don't have any pets...

Animal cruelty is a real issue. Even if you don't think they can feel emotions (such as love) you have to admit that they feel pain and can suffer.

Who cares if people love their pets? Isn't the world a better place because of it? People who love animals generally do not show cruelty to humans.

Pets can show "affection" if not exactly love as you define it. Plus there are proven health benefits of owning and caring for an animal.

Sorry your life is not filled with the joy of loving an animal.

I also don't like to read articles about animal cruelty, but I'm sure not for the same reason as you. I don't like the articles because they hurt me that someone can do that to a living being.

My dog is absolutely my son. He's there for me in good times and in bad. He is very loyal and loving. He's there for me when others (humans) aren't. Yes, he's absolutely human to me.

People who don't think animals have emotion are disturbingly unenlightened. How many times have you seen it discussed where an animal is put to sleep because it cannot be adopted due to severe emotional trauma from being abused, that causes it to lash out at humans and other animals?

Just ask my fur-son, who sulks after you call him out for doing something wrong and will ignore a fresh plate of food if a hug is offered... or my fur-daughter who has a clearcut case of jealousy over her younger brother who demands more attention and therefore receives it. They'll be happy to enlighten you.
