Every so often my car makes a weird noise when applying the brakes. I've had the brakes checked and there was

nothing wrong with them. The noise sounds like my car is teetering back and forth. It's not a squeaking sound, it's like something is rolling back and forth in the trunk. I've checked the trunk and it's not that. What could be causing this?

It's hard to say. Did you take it to a dealership for your brand? They truly do know the common causes for things.

It could be from a dry cushion in the suspension or in the body /engine cradle mounts. Lubrication points in the suspension / driveline of the car can make creeking sounding noises too (like opening a door with dry hinges)

Did you have only the front brake pads replaced, or each of ways around? Do you relax your foot on the brake pedal once you stress? Do you utilize the parking brake? The cable can grow to be corroded and not launch, or won't launch in freezing climate if moisture gets into it. which could drag your rear brakes inflicting them to placed on in develop. The squeeking noise could have been the brake placed on indicators and the grinding could point out that the pads are completely wiped out. The rear brakes in my Maxima lasted over one hundred,000 miles, till the parking brake cable caught.

Does this happen more-so when you have less fuel in the tank? You may be hearing what is called fuel slosh. If the fuel baffles in your tank are broken then fuel is allowed to slosh around unrestrained and sounds like a hollow thud or drum type noise. When the tank is full then the fuel cannot move around and hence there is no noise.
