how does a daily limit encourage participation?

I understand that it's a good way to prevent spammers but encourage participation? I don't see it, in fact I probably won't come back after I see answers. I want to help people I like answering questions people have. But I can't now cause I've reached my limit :(

Update:

I guess I'll stay, I don't like how it's kind of like a 'game' though. If I wanted to play games i would have gone to the games section. But I was being irrational when I said i wouldn't come back. I was tired and didn't want to go to bed, lol, oh well.

Just keep going because you are getting near Level 2 where your daily limit will double. As you reach different levels your daily limits will increase. When you hit Level 5 you will not be limited. I hope you don't give up!

The daily limit also helps others become more familiar with the guidelines of the community which can also encourage more participation.

As one gets to the next levels the daily limit gets increased by double and then when you get to levels 5-7 there is no longer a limit to worry about and you can answer as many questions as you want.

The new day starts at 12 a.m. Pacific (although as of late it's been starting at 1 a.m. Pacific) Time.

It encourages participation because you realize that your counts will reset and you can come back tomorrow. Without a limit then you could answer all day long for a week then get so bored you never come back.

This way they can leave you wanting more, as well as give you measurable goals to reach. It's like a computer game, always reaching for a higher score and more rewards (being able to answer more questions or whatever)

    I really don't know.

I love answering questions, not so much for the points but just knowing that I helped someone.

Also, I keep in mind that the asker could be answering my question someday.

Overwhelming amounts of spam would discourage participation more.

I didn't know about this...not sure why they should need one...we choose who we want to answer anyway. So far guess I haven't reached it.

  • I know that sucks humn?
