Pride of Britain Awards?
Why did JK Rowling win an award, I missed that part, as phone rang and cant find anyone at work who watched it. Surely it wasnt for writing books!

She is not a hero and worth millions doesnt deserve it.

Pah, just a government PR stunt. Meaningless.

While I totally agree that J K Rowling has done more to help children read in recent years than all the other authors put together, I do hesitate to link her to this particular award as it seems to be more for people who have suffered some mishap or carried out an act of bravery.

She didn't win an award, she PRESENTED one.
Ok Ok, I stand corrected on this and my mistake. When I came home last night the Old Man was watching it and I thought she was presenting one as it seemed to be 'The Man/Woman/Kids On The Street' recieving Awards. Didn't take that much notice and went to have a bath. Now looked it up and found she recieved it for 'An inspiration for single Mum's and would be authors'.

For her contribution to literature. Britain is proud of her, and rightly so. She is one of the world's greatest authors. She HAS made a difference on this planet. She deserves everything.

yes it was for her contribution of Harry Potter...
surely, theres not an author on every street in the Unitied Kingdom, that can write 7 childrens books that are sold worldwide & make them a multi millionaire.. she has made a good contribution to thes country. its a shame there arent more people like her.

i did not listen it yet it truly is not very astounding if human beings did. though perchance it changed into purely as an affectionate/lighthearted component. I loved the POB awards though - they're unhappy yet satisfied at the same time.

It was also because of the campaigning she's done for MS sufferers and for helping childrens charities.
