Class A CDL without airbrakes on trailer?
Anyone tested for a Class A CDL with a trailer with surge or electric brakes (not air.) Please let me know where and when.
Tractor has Air, trailer does not. I am looking for someone who has tested in this configuration! It does meets FHWA criteria for a full Class A.

Yes. It is possible to test for a Class A CDL without air brakes. Air brakes is a separate endorsement on your license, just like haz-mat. If you test without air brakes, you will be limited to driving vehicles without air brakes until you can retest for the endorsement.
Re: Additional details... If the tractor has air brakes, then you will have to have a trailer with air brakes too, and take the test for air brakes endorsement. If nothing else, you should be able to rent a trailer for a day or two in order to take your test.

I do believe that you can test with a trailer with out air brakes but if the tractor has air brakes than you have to test with air brake endorsement. But I could not find anything in the Nevada CDL book. So you might want to call you local DMV office.

I could be wrong but I think the federal law has been changed and that you must take the A cdl test with a combination that has air brakes.
My advice to you is to call or visit the local DMV.
