what good are these points.?

You earn credibility with people you don't know and who don't care about you.

Just another thing for people to do to help one another find answers and feel important by being rewarded for the information given. Perhaps some people feel the more points the smarter they are... just makes some people feel better. Its the same thing in video games... why do we care about the point? They do not give us a prize or win us some cash. Its a mental thing. People do it because they like it. It can also be comparable to the stars or ratings found on ebay, a way to prove yourself... and we all know how important that can be for some humans.

It's a closed economic system. You can only use the points on Yahoo Answers, to ask questions!

You can make your point for points. Encourages greater contributions from people possibly-so the theory goes.

You can trade them in at the counter for large combs, plastic spiders and dinosaurs,stuffed animals and Jaegermeister.

Once you get to level 7 you have no place to go.It is still a challenge.lol

They're good for a person's ego who might value something like that.
