Have you driven coast to coast in a car?

Now think about doing that same trip in a 4 horsepower covered wagon with no suspension. Those early settlers were nuts!

Thank you. Now, did you have a question also?

And the settlers didn't go coast to coast. There was a gradual move westward as territories opened up, but no one just got off the boat in new york, loaded up a wagon and went to California.

You think those guys were nuts, what about in 1928. There were no roads. They mad their own. In 1972 I lived in Yellowstone National Park (I know it was illegal), anyway I met this guy and his wife who were in the 80's. They put 4 kids through college and were still living up there. Their Model T broke down and they couldn't go any further so they just stayed.

In terms of what we have to travel in, it may seem that way, but when you are going to start a new life full of promise, you travel in the convenience of the day, tough but effective.
